Detective Russel Timoshenko Way



Durant Avenue, between Hopkins Avenue and Buffalo Street in Staten Island was re-named the Detective Russel Timoshenko Way. In 2007, 23 year old rookie, Det. Russel Timoshenko, 71 Precinct, was shot twice in the face during a routine traffic stop. He died 5 days later, leaving behind his mother and father. He was their only child. He had served with the department for 18 months.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, First Deputy Commissioner George Grasso, Chief of Department Joseph Esposito, Chief of Patrol  Robert Giannelli, Assistant Chief  Raymond Diaz, CO, Patrol Borough Manhattan North, Assistant Chief Stephen R. Paragallo CO, Patrol Borough Staten Island, Deputy Inspector Thomas Delehanty,  CO, 122nd Precinct, Deputy Inspector John Denesopolis Jr., CO, 120th Precinct,  Detective Michael Palladino, President of the DEA, Detective Sam Miller, Sgt at Arms, DEA, Detective Jeffrey Ward, Staten Island Trustee, DEA,  Patrick J. Lynch, PBA President, officers from the 71st Precinct, Patrol Borough Brooklyn South, as well as other precincts stood in ranks to honor their fallen comrade.  NYC Councilman Vincent Ignizio and Staten Island District Attorney Dan Donovan were among those in attendance. There were also representatives of the motorcycle group the “Blue Knights” who also stood in ranks, among whom was PO Richard Rodriquez, PBA Financial Secretary, Lower Manhattan/Richmond.
