NY COP FORUM FALL 2001 WORLD TRADE CENTER ATTACK

Forum E-mail responses:

comments = I have tried to contact the NYPD home page but it has been understandably impossible owing to yesterdays outrageous and barbaric attacks on your country and I just wanted to express to somebody that the whole world of civilised people will share your shock and horror and our hearts and thoughts have gone out to all the people and families that have lost their lives and loved ones and to all the people that are working around the clock to look for survivors and sift through this carnage. Can you please pass onto everybody that our thoughts are with you all, and that we will all have as much difficulty in coming to terms with and understanding this insane attack. Your colleagues around the world are with you. From Constable PEARCE, Maldon Police Station Essex Police UK

comments = Please accept my sympathy to all those officers and their families after the terrible events of 11/09/2001. Just to let you know as a fellow police officer, my thoughts are with New York's finest. Bill Borland.

Ed:
Are you aware if the Department has reached out to its retired members to volunteer in any fashion? Many of the retirees I have spoken to (both NYPD ranking officers and NYC FBI), feel frustrated about not being able to provide any support other than giving blood. Just a question. Terrible situation!

Captain Reuss,

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the families of all the NYPD/NYFD personnel who died heroically in this tragedy, doing what we do best. I am a former NYPD officer currently working for the Oakland Police Department in California, and we feel your pain and loss. If you are able, pass along any kind of 10-13 information to me, and I will pass it on to my department.
To a safe tour,
Donna Hoppenhauer, formerly #13230

comments = I just wanted to let all the fine people involved in the tragedy that has happened that our heart's go out to our brother's and sister's that wear the badge. I only wish I could be there to help give some of them some relief and help out myself. I have only visited New York once, but the kindness that was given to me by the N.Y.P.D. and transit personnel was overwhelming. My prayers go out to all and their families. May God give you peace and time to rest. Keep up the good work, B-SAFE, DETECTIVE DARRIN J. WALKER, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT H.Q. NARCOTICS WORK e-mail: djwalker@lasd.org

As a recently retired Sgt w/Columbus PD I share your grief.mere words cannot adequately express my feelings but a quote from "Gates of Fire" by David Pressfield comes close."This is my shield. I bear it before me in battle, but it is not mine alone. It protects my brother on my left. It protects my city. I will never let my brother out of its shadow or my city out of its shelter. I will die with my shield before me facing the enemy." God Bless you all.

Please accept the condolences of my family and me as well as the condolences of my fellow Officers of the Detroit Medical Center Security Police Department. The loss of a Police Officer effects us all, no matter where it happens. Our thoughts and prayers are with every member of the NYPD and NY/NJ Port Authority Police. We also pray for a speedy recovery of the Officers of both Departments who were injured at the WTC. Our thoughts and prayers are also with FDNY and those families.

To: The New York City Law Enforcement Officers
From: Florida Law Enforcement Friends

Good-bye our Friends, Good-bye.
Our Brethren there in Blue.
So many of you've left us,
We send our prayers to you.

We know that you're in God's hands,
Your place with Him assured.
We're here to help your loved ones,
We give our solemn word.

God, Help us find the answers,
Although our task immense.
But give us Lord your justice
And final recompense.

This goes out to the brave policemen and women who are all one family in the job they do for our country. You are leaders sent by God with a determination fueled by a common understanding of care. You are extraordinary people who envelop an emotional and physical courage we will never know. Because you heed a more unusual call filled with the noble desire to help those you do not know, you are highly admired. It is your rare commodity of courage that we thank you for today and always. For it is through you, Angels sent by God to keep us mere citizens safe, that we find peace. When the word 'Police' appears on a uniform it signifies so much. Perhaps only those who wear or have worn it can understand exactly how much. My colleagues and I would like to offer our condolences to you all at this terrible time, and also to convey our pride and respect for the manner in which you continue to serve your community. As a law enforcment officer myself, I take off my hat and salute all the extremely brave men and woman of the nypd and the nyfd for their actions and effortless devotion during new York city and the country's worst hour.

I watched the TV on Wednesday night and couldn't believe my eyes as the terrorist actions unfolded before my eyes. While I have heart felt sympathy for all those who were affected by this tragedy I felt especially sad to hear that so many cops and fire fighters are missing. I can't do a great deal to assist other than to let you know that cops all over the world are with you and that we feel your loss as we always do when we lose a brother or sister. Subject: THANK YOU FROM NEW YORK CITY
I wish to extend my personal heartfelt thanks to Convoy of Hope for the response to NYC during the harrowing first days of the attack on the World Trade Center.
I am a retired Captain of the New York City Police Department and worked with Steven R. Ewing, VP Logistics, Convoy of Hope who brought trailer trucks filled with supplies for the rescue effort at the World Trade Center. He and Rev. David W. Auteron, pastor of the El Bethel Assembly of God located at 910 Jewett Avenue, Staten Island, NY worked together to bring your assistance to us in our hour of need.
God bless all of you for your generosity and Christian love.
I will never forget your acts of kindness and I know that the citizens of this City will never really know just how much your helped us.

I appreciate your kind words regarding our organization and our efforts
to assist your community. Let me also express to you the enormous pride
and respect that my family and I have for you and those in your
profession. There was a time when the country considered athletes,
movie stars and heads of business to be heroes and role models.
However, the men and women of the New York Police and Fire Departments
have become the new icons of heroism in this country. You are selfless,
brave, compassionate and diligent in your efforts to help others in a
seemingly impossible situation. You and those you work with are the
personification of what is truly great about this wonderful country.

Please know that you are loved, admired, respected and prayed for every
day. God's greatest blessings to all of you, your families and those
affected by this tragedy.

Sincerely,

comments = As a former member of the Baltimore City Police Department I share in you9r sorrow and offer my condolences and prayers for those you have lost. As a retired member of the United States Air Force Security Police, I promise you that their loss will not go unanswered.
On 11 September 2001 a few members of the human race (I describe them as
that for they are not human) cut at the heart of America giving us pause to
reflect on what we all hold dear, FREEDOM! Having personally videoed the
stand down of the Strategic Alert Force at the end of the cold war I, as
others, felt freedom was safe. It would seem these "people" have challenged
that presumption. As a former member of the Baltimore City Police force I
share the loss, pain, and pride that our brothers in New York City must feel
tonight and offer my prayers and condolences to them and the families of the
lost. As a retired member of the United States Air Force I promise you that
their sacrifice will not go unanswered! My brothers will avenge those
peaceful minions that had no crime other then being Americans. To the
perpetrators I say this, you have bleed America but only to the point of
awakening the giant. For all the terrorists in the world and all of those
that would deprive people of freedom, to live as they would, to worship as
they would, to care for others as they did, I say this.... You have
awakened your worst nightmare! Those who have remained in the armed forces
of this country will hunt you down like the dogs your are! We will find
you in whatever hole you choose to hide in, whether it be Afghanistan or
Syria and bring havoc upon you and your families. "There came a rider upon
a pale horse and his name was death, and hell followed with him! You are
about to harvest what you have sowwn! Be afraid! Be very afraid
